DUI Charged as Felony asked 10 Nov 2010
My father had been charged with a DUI in Cobb county last year. The DUI resulted in an accident. He had no priors. He was charged with a misdemeanor charge for DUI and a felony charge for the accident in which he was sentenced 12 months and 10 yrs probation. He has served his time and also is finishing his payment of his county fees. My question is after all his fees have been paid to Cobb County would he have any chance of getting his felony charge pardoned or reduced. B/C of the felony charge he has been turned away from many jobs in the IT field. He is 60yrs old. He has lost all income, spent his retirement, lost his home, car, and is basically indigent. I am very desperate to find an answer for him or some type of answers to get his life back on track again.Getting a pardon is Georgia is a difficult process at best. In many cases they are denied. The Pardons & Parole board has the application online. If you google “Georgia Pardons & Parole board”…you’ll find all of the commonly asked questions and the options that your dad may have. I hope this helps your dad out…George Stein
