George, I really enjoy your segment on The Regular Guys; you're great at what you do. My brother is going through some rough times and he's living with me in Duluth. He relocated from Massachusetts and is currently working. He has a daughter in Mass. and a baby son living with us. He is paying child support for his daughter through automatic deductions from his paychecks. His license had been suspended in Mass. for multiple violations (non-DUI). Can my brother get a hardship driver's license here in Georgia to drive to and from work, and to take his baby to daycare? What are the typical requirements for this? Thank you.

The Georgia DMV (modernly called "DDS") will not issue any type of license to your brother until he gets reinstated in Mass. It doesn't matter that he no longer lives there. I suggest he clear up things there, get a "letter of clearance" from the Mass DMV. He can present the letter to DDS in Georgia to obtain a license. If your brother needs help with his Mass license matters, I suggest he call Attorney Stephan Jones in Boston. Or visit his website at DWILawOffice.com
