I would like your advice please on the following but I didn't want to go on the radio with this story since it sounds so white trash. A few years ago my ex husband had our son arrested for domestic violence for getting into a fight at the school bus stop with his own brother after the younger one called his dad when he felt I wasn't doing enough to stop whatever they were fighting about.  The one arrested was 18 while the younger one was 16 at the time.  I bailed him out and we awaited a court date.  I did not hire a lawyer because I couldn't afford one for him.  We spoke with the solicitor and he told him to plead not guilty since his brother was there on his behalf.  They assigned him community service and we thought that was the end of it.  He then took his ASVAB test for the air force and they were very interested in him until they did the background check and the above came up.  The Air Force then had an investigator go through and interview everyone involved and they rescinded the offer for college and a job in the Air Force even after my ex husband told them it was a mistake.  Please, is there anything I can do to get this kid into the service?  He wants to go to college and serve his country and this is holding him up.

It sounds like your son inadvertently pled guilty to the charges. The best way to get this off his record, is to file a motion to "reopen the case and set aside the conviction." This, in some cases, can work if the initial matter was not completed a long time ago. Once the case is re-opened, he needs to fight the charge and attempt to get it dismissed. This should help him get in to the military.

You know you're a redneck when your dad has you arrested for beating up your brother
