Hi George, I listen to you on the Regular Guys every week and hope you can help advise on ticket I received. I received a speeding ticket on Buford Hwy going 60 in a 45. I asked the officer two times before he wrote the ticket if he would list the ticket at 14 miles over the speed limit rather than 15. He flat out stated he couldn't do that. I'm not trying to get out of paying the ticket - just reduced so my insurance doesn't go through the roof. Can I go to court and ask for the miles over the limit to be reduced? If you go to court, do you either plead not guilty or guilty and pay with no negotiating? Thanks for your consideration.

You can still negotiate with the prosecutor on your scheduled court date. Just ask for a “pre-trial” and then the prosecutor will discuss it with you. If you have a good record, there’s a good chance they’ll reduce it to 14mph over the limit. This will keep it off your record. If they refuse, get a continuance and call my office for more details.
