traffic accident  asked 17 Feb 2010

On Friday febuary 12th, I was in fender bender on cumming highway. It was bumper to bumper trafic and I hit a slick spot on the bridge over the Chattahoochee. Of course I recieved a ticket for following too close. The other driver did not have proof of insurance. What should I plea? If I plea guilty I get points on my record. If I plea nolo I have to goto court and hope things go my way. What do you recomend?

Pleading Nolo (No contest) would be the best way to avoid the points, but keep in mind, you can only use a Nolo once every 5 years. If you have a fairly good driving record, the prosecutor should not oppose a nolo. Some people would prefer to save their Nolo plea for something more significant (ie drug charge or a large point traffic violation) in the future.
